Womanhood & Sustainability

CerModern Ankara

The photographic installation “Pink & Light Blue” attracts public’s gaze by a vivid patchwork of bright, eve-catching colours. On closer inspection, female figures, suffocated in mountains of plastic, emerge – expressing attitudes of violence and intimacy. The composition combines disturbing elements of environmental pollution and partly hidden female bodies, giving the viewer a feeling of voyeurism. The images oscillate between abstraction and figuration, between staging and reality. They show fleeting moments and coloured surfaces that invites us to explore the constructiveness of our contemporary society. Her photographs refer to the traditional field of photography, and at the same time, thematize images of advertising and media.
