Wer bist du? explores the relationship between memory, identity, and artificial intelligence. The project originates from the artist's attempt to reconstruct the personality of her father, who died six months before she was born. Using a photograph as its source, an AI model generated a fictional text, which the artist subsequently embroidered by hand onto a curtain from her home.
The curtain becomes a site where personal memory and algorithmic construction intersect. Through the slow gesture of embroidery, the work contrasts the ephemerality of digital technologies with the material permanence of handcrafted labour.
By combining an intimate biography with AI-generated speculation, Wer bist du? reflects on authenticity, identity, and the ways technology shapes our understanding of memory, inviting viewers to reconsider the relationship between images, absence, and remembrance.
